The ban will start in England and it's expected to spread to the whole of the UK.
The idea of the ban is to discourage people from starting to smoke. I find this to be totally patronosing, if someone wants to start they will. Smokers will supposedly be discouraged because the cigarettes won't be on show but will this make a difference? People smoke because they want to, they start because they want to so banning cigarettes from being on display in shops surely won't change anything. When I go in to a pharmacy I see pain killers on display but that doesn't make me want to take an overdose so do cigarette displays encourage people to smoke?

Don't wish it on the other person

You know the thing parents sometimes do? "You should have kids just like you so you know how it feels." My dad's parents said that to him. He was a handful and so was I. I am just happy that my parents never wished that on me. My kids are actually pretty well behaved. Cary, who has autism, has his issues. But all in all I've been pretty lucky.

So now Richard has gout. Yep, people actually get gout in this day and age. Apparently gout is really, really painful. From what he's telling me, I wouldn't wish it on anybody. But it has had one interesting side effect.

I started having painful back problems in the late 80's, early 90's. And for a while, I was was running around from doctor to chiropractor to massage therapist to acupuncturist to physical therapist trying to get some relief. And he got kind of grouchy with me one day about the bills and told me I should just "deal with it".

Well the other day he told me that now that he knows what pain is, he was very, very sorry for saying that.

So I would never wish gout or any other painful condition on anybody, but if it taught one person a little compassion, I guess it wasn't a total loss.

Easy for me to say though. I have been involved with the human rights organisation amnesty international for about 10 years, generally just joining their letter writing campaigns. they only ask you to do this for countries other than your own (for in some cases very obvious reasons) and while most of them involved countries you would expect to have human rights abuses there were, and still are, a number about death row in the united states. there seem to be a fair number of miscarriages of justice that end up with someone who probably is not guilty ending up here, not to mention the whole thing of making someone wait decades knowing they will be executed at the end of it - which seems pretty nasty to me.

so if your country does have the death penalty do you think it is being implemented properly or is it leading to human rights abuses? [will reiterate that the question of whether the death penalty is right or wrong has been covered in other discussions]

When was the last time you had a pet die?

It was really such a sad sight. i saw my kitten now eating for some days. i tried to check on my kitten as to why he does not want to eat any thing that i give him and after 3 days he died. i didn't bring him to a vet as i am quite shy to bring a kitten to a vet. as here in my country, we don't really put that much care for pets like for stray cats. this is the kitten born from a stray cat i fed from time to time before. i was expecting this kitten to grow up as a strong cat like the first kitten i cared for and now a big cat which is still alive and still i care and feed this cat.

Anyways, as i was saying i was kind of shy to bring my kitten to the doctor. as not much people will bring their cat to a vet. like people here mostly just let their cats or kittens die if it get sick. they will try to feed them or give them medicine by themselves but not to the extent of bringing them to the doctor. so it is not a usual practice and i feel that my kitten will not survive anyways, so i just let the cat die naturally. i tried my best to care and feed my kitten . i love my kitten as it was a very cute kitten. with black and white fur.

Reached my minimum limit of 10$ already

Hi guys! I just want to share with you that I have just reached the minimum payout for mylot which is 10$, and I have $12.98 in my account. I went to my earnings section and read that I am qualified to have a payout on or before December 15. But I also read below that line, that the amount posted there are only estimates, and subject to change.

May I ask which of you has received his payout already and is not the same with what was posted in their earnings section. And how would this be transferred to my paypal account. Is this automatic? I am sorry guys if I ask too many questions. Its just that I am too excited because this will be my first payout after being active again last October 21, 2009.

Can we use short words like we use in chatting in MYLOT....???

hey friends.......the people who used to chatting on yahoo or other can easily understand what i am trying to tell....we just used short words in chatting...like below...

I am so happy [em]happy[/em] to let you know that I have learned something new today about some new use of computers on my side. You see, mylot page was very small in words and I had to look more closely at mylot page when doing some responding and posting.

This afternoon (November 7th, 2009), I called to ask one of my friends who is a computer professional for the issue. He told me how to make the words bigger and I succeeded in making it. Now I am so happy with this discovery that I would be glad to share this information with you guys.

If you want to enlarge any web-page to make it clearer and bigger for you to read, you may click "view" and and find "zoom". Then you may click "zoom in" to the size you prefer. This way the web-page is nice and big enough for you to read. Isn't that cool!

It is never too old to learn. I expect to always learn something more about the use of computers, which is one of my favorites.

So what do you think about the saying, "It is never too old to learn."?

Love from williamjsir
