It seems that you finally found the hope amidst the economic crisis you've experienced with the previous administration.

Now that President Barack Obama is now leading the most powerful country in the world, do you really think he can handle this kind of responsibility?
Good enough that the change he's saying will be clearly seen by 305,595,000 Americans.

I know this is not the right time to be judgmental about anything but perhaps some American myLotters will contribute some useful insights about the newly elected president.

2008 Obama tells supporters they bring a knife we bring a gun ~ black man beat

Barack Obama told a crowd of supporters in Philadelphia back in 2008, “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.” He added, “That’s the Chicago way.”

Last night in St. Louis, Missouri, a local conservative found out firsthand about the “Chicago way.” Kenneth Gladney, a black conservative from the city, was handing out “Don’t Tread On Me” flags after a Russ Carnahan town hall meeting on health care in Mehlville. This didn’t go over well with the Obama supporters and union thugs who attended the meeting. They punched him in the face, kicked him in the head, and stomped him on the pavement. So much for hope and change...

Uh, Mr.McCain, the campaign is over.

Sour grapes?

Maybe looking ahead to 2012?

He'll be WAAAYYYYY too old then!

How dare he take our rightfully-elected, God-anointed, God-appointed leader to task for a choice he made?

What do you think?

Republicans respecting our president?

For the last eight years the Republican party created the idea of you MUST support everything the president does or you are unpatriotic (even though this is the same party that attack Bill Clinton, and invested everything he did). With the end of Bush administration, does this mean that the republicans that are going to attack Obama for everything he does are now UNPATRIOTIC? Do think that these republicans are hypocrates for attacking the Democratic president during a time of war, when it was unpatriotic to attack the republican president? I'm so sick and tired of the media and bloggers being derailed from the real issues talking about crap about the candidates (half of it which isn't even true). It seems like the majority of the stuff I've seen people talking about this summer is how Obama is a Muslim terrorist socialist radical. And now that Palin is in the mix all everyone seems to be talking about is her unmarried 17 year old pregnant daughter and her baby with down syndrome.

Can we all just get back to the important issues please?!?!?! How about we talk about the candidates voting records as that sets a huge example for what we will have in store for us if they are elected. I've yet to see anyone talk about Palins voting record aside from her being pro-gun, pro-life, and pro drilling. And I've done my own research and that's all I can find. So if anyone finds any other reliable sources of her voting record please share. I'm really wanting to learn more about Palin but I can't seem to get any information without running into crazy people spouting off their opinions about her family life.

Sorry for the rant! But I'm just so sick of this!

Barack Obama the Anit-Christ?

Please don't flame me personally, my grandma was complaining about this candidate earlier today. She was telling me I shouldn't vote for him (she's a Republican) because she thinks he's the Anti-Christ.

As with a topic I started before, she was saying how she knows for a fact that when he gets into office, every white person in this country will get their heads chopped off. Or make slaves of them all. She said that he would take away white people's rights so that we are living in poverty like the black people are today. Of course, I don't believe in any of this disgusting propaganda, but she was on the verge of tears when she was saying that.

She also went on to say how Barack takes his oathes on the Koran. Not the Bible "like he is supposed to." And how he doesn't wear any American flag pins on the lapel of his jacket (I'm not a fan of pins either, so I understand if he doesn't do that) or recite the pledge of allegiance (I never did that in school because I'm not going to look like a fool reciting that thing. I don't like to talk much and I'm not going to be forced to talk lol).

Then she went on to say that when she sees Barack's wife on TV standing beside her husband, she can see the hate in Mrs. Obama's eyes when she looks out into the crowd. Supposedly, Barack has very persuasive and can get people to do what he wants and that's why he's the Anti-Christ. "It's all in the Bible," she told me. "And we are living in the last days. I hope the Lord will come down and take us Christians away before Satan comes. I know we are in the last days because the world can't get any worse." Those are her words. Sounds like a cult way of thinking to me.

Then she said that I should vote for Mike Huckabee because he's a "good Christian man", in other words, a Baptist preacher. My grandparents are Baptist, and my grandma thinks that everyone who isn't Baptist are devil worshippers.

Then she went on to say how the U.S. was feeling God's wrath because we are not bowng down to the Lord. That's why all those earthquakes, mudslides and tornados are happening. And how Mike Huckabee was the one to help the U.S. get back to its Christian roots.

What do you think about all of this? Do you agree or not agree? Personally, I think people with the religious fanatic mindset should not vote for something as important as the presidential election.

Did You Vote 2008?

I didn't get a chance, but I was voting for Obama? What's your opinion about this years election?

Take the DAY OFF to VOTE?

Yes, it is true.

0bama has asked his supporters to take the day off from work and devote that time to helping get out the vote.

Here's more about that as well as reports by demographic group as to who agrees or disagrees with this idea.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/one_third_of_obama_voters_plan_to_be_out_tomorrow

I say that it probably is no surprise that 0bama supporters are more likely to agree with the notion of taking off from work than any other group. It just makes sense that those hoping to be on the receiving end of 'wealth redistribution' would be the ones more likely to un-necessarily take a day off from work. There is no need to 'get out the vote'. Those informed enough to have an opinion will not need urging to go vote. Why encourage the apathetic and ill-informed to cast a ballot?

What do you say?

Where were you, when the 2008 President was announced?

I was asleep, but was awaken by the applause on TV.

How are we divided so evenly?

As I am watching the election results come in, I wonder how we seem to continuously divided so evenly. It is not decided yet but things look pretty good for Obama (still hoping for a McCain upset though). But it looks like the popular vote is going to be very close again. This means that the last three elections have been close to 50/50 with the election being decided in a few close toss up states.
Is the country really divided so closely down party lines or is their something else going on? I feel that the Republicans have not done much to separate themselves from Democrats. There is no longer a conservative party in the country. Just a moderate party and a liberal party. What reason do you feel is the reason that the elections continue to be so close?
