But it has happened.

Two years ago, it was a Hindu Muslim clash, in which several people lost their lives.

Now, from three days, it is a Hindu Christian clash. The roots of this clash can be found in the incidents of Orissa. Venerable Hindu elders, who were social workers, working to preserve Hindu culture in the face of conversions to Christianity, were murdered in cold blood by a group (so far unknown but suspected to be either Mao or Christian). This led to a communal clash in Orissa, which left a few Christians and a few Hindus dead. Around the same time, we had floods in Bihar, which killed thousands, but the world was more worried about the communal clash in Orissa than the killer flood in Bihar.

The Roman Catholics of Mangalore protested against the communal clash in Orissa. At around the same time, a book published by the New Life denomination, in which the Hindu religion and Hindu gods were condemned, came to light, and this upset the feelings of Hindu activists, who attacked New Life Prayer halls. From a long time, they were unhappy about the way certain Christian groups were converting people to Christianity. I read in the papers today that it is a big racket. The converting family gets Rs 25,000 for converting to Christianity, and the person who converts them gets Rs 5,000. The poor become Christian for the money. It is something like network marketing.

In the recent clash, Roman Catholic churches were not spared either. Section 144 was declared immediately to bring the situation under control. Yesterday, there was a lot of unrest as several parishes got together to block roads and protest. Some Muslim youth got together with Christians to stone the policemen. And well, there were a lot of problems.

Today the shops were closed. No milk! No eggs either! Luckily, the paper arrived later. Just a few vehicles dare to run on the roads. As a climax, political parties are beginning to take advantage of the situation.

Gosh, I really wish Mangalore gets back to normal again and soon.

Every time I speak about the good points of my country but today I am going to speak about the worst-Communal violence.
Christians from the Indian state of Orissa have been the scapegoats of burning hatred there.
Well this thing hapenned when A spiritual Hindu leader was gunned down by Maoists, but the hindu fanatic groups saw the Christians as doubtfuls and attacked them. Several methodist, protestant as well as catholic churches and prayer houses were attacked in the communally sensitive Kandhamal district of Orissa. Almost 20 people claimed their lives in the violence.
Our pseudo-secular country needs your prayers.

college student receives death threats and eternal damnation

Ok I can believe this is happening and I can't believe this is happening,

A college student after smuggling a wafer, which in communion represents the 'body of Christ' in Christian and Catholic churches, has received death threats and eternal damnation.

I'm sorry the Bible says there is only one sin htat's not forgivable....

The student returned the wafer after a week, and the church was unforgiving,

he took it to show his friend

I'm sorry but I think this is ridiculous, and I think the church is over reacting....
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,378081,00.html

Do you think the church is over reacting?Yes
Or do you think the student is bound for hell?No
Do you think the church and church members are over reacting? Yes I do

I think for this student to be now threatened with death threats I hope the police get involved and call the church off.

I cant imagine what that student is feeling to fear for his life and so young

After there being so much input about salvation, thought it might be a good idea to do a post on salvation. So heres the Questions. Number 1...What is salvation. Number 2...How does salvation come to be? Number 3...What does the bible (s) say about salvation?

catholism

In my travels and jobs I have noticed a few things. The catholic church plays different roles in different parts of the world. Some parts they have more infuence than other parts. Do catholic churches have the christain bible inside them for the members to read or is the Christain bible to be inturpreted to the masses buy the preacher/father!

Same Sex Marriages: what is your opinion to that?

Catholic churches seemed to have played different sounds at this time. In the Philippines same sex marriages are not accepted yet. The Christian churches specially the Catholic Church is upfront to say NO to this marital union of same sexes because God have made just two sexes, male and female.
In the recent issue, Gay/Lesbian marriages in the United States have finally found its refuge. They are now allowed to be united in one as couple in California in the eve that the ammendment was inked. The ammended civil code of State Law for marital union allowing same sex marriages in their state.
That earned different views from people. For me we were born with our biological diversity. Including that is our natural emotional diversity. Science researches findings tells us that a gay has been that way from conception in the womb. For other Christian believers they are Sodomist, from the word Sodom in the bible that was forbidden because of their capital sins. Is it fair to call our gay/lesbians that way? Hmmm I think they have chosen to be that way, but what about us? What if we will be called by this group as secular humanist??? Would you agree? But in the Gay/Lesbian marriages for me, as a creature that breathes too like them, it's a matter of choice. That's their life. A choice that other calls it full of shame. For me it isn't a shame or an embarrassment. It is their choice, they meant to be that way and they are happy being gays and lesbians.
Finally, living in this complicated world is our choice on how we make use of our life to enjoy it. They gays and lesbians are happy, why must we feel awe disappointed of them if ever? It's their choice.

Sensitive Material: Please Read With an OPEN Mind

As a former Catholic, I could never understand some things about that faith: praying other than to God, statuary and dogma, among them. I merely followed the crowd like a lemming, before I opened my eyes, my mind and my heart.

The Bible tells us that we are to pray to God alone, yet the Catholic faith has its people praying to Mary, Christ’s mother, calling her a co-redemptress of Christ. Catholic churches throughout the world are filled with statues of saints as well as Mary … whom none of us have never seen, while the Bible admonishes us against creating graven images (statues).

Catholics are told to pray to St. Jude, patron saint of the impossible, or lost causes, when we lose something or something appears hopeless. The Church seems to have a saint to pray to for almost everything. (Well, maybe not for a win at BINGO unless that one is call-forwarded to St. Jude.)

Instead, the Bible tells us: “There is but one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus.” 1st Timothy 2:5

Catholics are often given “penance” of reciting a litany of three “Our Fathers” (which is actually The Lord’s Prayer) and three “Hail Marys.”

And the rosary is another story: paying homage to Mary 10 times per “decade” with 10 Hail Marys and one to God with one Our Father. That's a ratio of 10-1 in favor of Mary when the Bible tells us to pray to God alone.

The Church teaches that Mary was “assumed” into heaven; that she never experienced a physical death. Yet, the Bible teaches in Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.

Why would the Catholic Church "assume" that she was "assumed"? That's an "assumed assumption," and it directly contradicts the Word of God.

There are so many seeming contradictions in the Catholic faith.

So why does the institution teach things that are clearly in violation of scripture and chance “leading many astray” from the teachings of Christ?

If you elect to respond to this discussion, please leave any hatred and condemnation outside the door as you enter. Thanks

When her son Michael was about 3 he got a really high fever and ended up in the ICU in grave condition. He had 104 temp for ten days and the doctors gave him little chance of recovery and if he did they said he would most surely be brain damaged. He suddenly got better after much prayer through the Catholic churches we all attended and got to go home. They were amazed to find out he was perfectly fine with no side effects whatsoever with the fever!
A year later his uncle was talking to little Michael and teasing him about the girlfriend he had. He explained to his uncle that he had two girlfriends! So Uncle Stan asked him who the other one was, knowing that the little girl next door was the first, and he replied that it was the lady in the blue dress....he said she would hold his hand in the hospital when mommy and daddy had to leave each night! So we believe that St Mary was with our little Michael and that our prayers were answered! Do you believe? Or do you think this is something I made up.....Have you ever had an experience like this?

Is the Pope's visit a Publicity stint?

Im sorry but I just see it as that and this is the Pope's first 'Papal' visit and I have to wonder if its because of the sexual abuse scandal that cost 4 billion from the churches pocket and sent many into bankruptcy.

Do people even relate to this new Pope Benedict like the last Pope, I doubt it.

And its hard to sit back and watch this Circus act anyway, man Catholic churches want a modern look on life and their still having these ancient ceremonies that we have to revere with such awe, come on. I believe that we are all one and alike and this chirade goes against that and lessens my own spiritual potential by believing I need someone else to get me to God, this just inspires confusion.
Lets not even begin with the Christian Crusades...

Need Your help, Especially from catholic friends. I am in dilemma and it has to be resolved.

First Part: I know few priests, who claim that they have visions from GOD and they can see future. So if you want to marry someone and want to know whether you would be happy together or not, just attain the fraternity prayer and towards the end of the prayer, priest can listen to your prayer (even without listening to your prayer) and resolve your query. They state that they have got this answer directly from the GOD thru visions. If you are not blessed with child, attain this prayer and you would be blessed with a child.

Second Part: I also read that catholic churches are against Occults. Any kind of approach, let it be visions, astrology, numerology etc to know the future is termed as 'Prostiution against the GOD' and the person who does this should be stoned to death.

Now can you please explain me this? Whats the truth. How these priest are different from being an occultionists?
