My wedding ring is a ruby surrounded by diamonds. Princess Diana's engagement ring was a sapphire. My step-mother's ring is a sapphire. So what is it about diamonds, I wonder. To me, a diamond is a lovely stone to place around colored stones to accent them. But so many women want diamonds and only diamonds. So I'm asking you diamond wearers, do you really like them better than other gemstones? Or is there some other reason? That's what hubby gave you? Tradition? Why are these mostly colorless things so popular? Has the diamond industry just convinced everybody with their massive advertising campaigns that this is the thing to do? Or do women just seriously prefer diamonds? PS no diamonds were smuggled out of Africa for this discussion... People might say no - I have my family for that and others might state the other way around saying Friends help you out when needed. To me, I think friends are important and so is family but I do not see them both as the same thing. Friends are people who will help you and you can chat to and hang out with - Family are your relatives... well you do the same things but you wont be hanging around with your mother all day or would you want to have a sleep over with your dad? However, many travel books are showcasing fancy things about different countries. Well, my idea of an interesting travel or visit is to see both the fancy and reality in that particular place.Since I was a child I contemplated of seeing AFRICA for myself. I love the wild thing but when I grew older and more aware of the things happening around the world, my views changed. Now, I still want to visit Africa but not for the wild thing anymore but also the realities of the people living there.
