Here's a little snippet from a website:

Avocados are a surprisingly complete food, with fourteen minerals to stimulate growth, including iron and copper for your blood. The sodium and potassium in avocados keeps your body chemically balanced, and their low sugar content and absence of starch make them an ideal fruit for diabetics or hypoglycemics (choose small slices throughout the day to keep your sugar balanced). Vitamins in avocados include A, several B-complex, C, and E, as well as phosphorus and magnesium. They’re also a great source of antioxidants like vitamins E and C.

Do you eat avacados? How do you prepare them?

Today a smeared a bit of avacado on my turkey wrap in place of the mayonaise. It made the wrap so much healthier and lower in calories and fat, but it still tasted great!

The only problem I'm noticing is the avacado goes bad very quickly! I only cut it open yesterday, used a small bit of it, then put it in a container to use for the rest of the week... but today it was already turning brown!

Do you have any tips on how to store an avacado so it stays fresh longer? I put the remainder of it in the freezer so hopefully I can still use a bit of it tomorrow!

Since it gets cold here during this time of year, and since a different variety of produce is now in season, I tend to cook differently. I love to make homemade soups and stews this time of year, or chili...not things I normally make during hotter weather.

Winter squash, turnips, yams, citrus fruits and such are now among the freshest "in season" foods available, so I also use these now. I also bake more, as the oven heat is welcome this time of year, but not in the summer time.

How about you? Each country or area has season changes, even if the temperatures don't vary that much, as they do here. Do you tend to cook differently according to the time of year? If so, how?

But now he's also insisting on 7 layer salad this year wich isn't hard to make, but a PITA to buy because some of the items are out of season so they cost more this time of year. And of course the main course is usually a turkey or a ham.

I offered this year to make green bean caserole even if I don't like it but he decided he wanted the 7 layer salad *sigh* sadly the green bean caserole would be cheaper to make.

We usually go crazy but since it's just 7 of us.... we end up with tons of left overs because his parents eat like birds. So we have tons of left overs typically that we live off of til they are gone.

What is your signature dish

What meal do you know how to cook better than anything? ( or anyone ) else?
From who you learn your signature dish? How often will you cook this signature dish? Anyone likes your signature dish?

For some restaurant, they will have their signature dish. People can come from far for its signature dish, which they like it because of it is unique and couldn't get it from others restaurant. This is a way of one of the business tricks.

Share your story of your signature dish !

What about you? Do you prefer cold hard butter or room temperature butter?

Thomas Kinkade...The Painter of Light...

I was researching Thomas Kinkade this morning and I ended up putting one of his pics as my desktop wallpaper. I love his pictures. They are so realistic, they make me think that I could step right into them. I have several that are favorites and I think I’d like to get some to hang in our home. He really is an extremely talented artist.

Do you own any Thomas Kinkade pics? What do you think of his art? Would you ever buy any to hang in your home? What’s your favorite kind of jelly? I love strawberry jelly with crunchy peanut butter on soft bread.
