She told us that people in Denmark are the happiest people in the world, although they pay 50% of their income into taxes. Americans are not so happy about their taxes being raised... and ours are much lower.

The women from Denmark said that they were happy in their country, despite the taxes because they were able to see the results of their tax money at work. All of their streets were in good condition, all elderly persons were cared for, all children had good schools, and they had universal medical coverage whenever they got sick. They felt security and were happy to know that the money was being used on them.

So I ask, would you be willing to pay higher taxes if you had the security that is provided in Denmark?

Health Care bill

The new health care bill will be the end of the US medical profession. In allowing the US to take control of health care, it will only shorten the life span of many Americans. Why would the government pay for someone in there 60 to receive chemo therapy.

A Better Solution For Healthcare Reform?

Its been Obamas agenda to make Healthcare government driven for one reason which is out of control costs. I do agree the doctor knows whats best for the patient more than the government ever will whos just standing in the background and doesn't know the details of the patient. Why not just go after the money wasters who overbill things rather than having government control healthcare but again this is easier said than done as that could go on forever. I say the only way out of the out of control Healthcare costs is cures rather than treatments along with prevention. Prevention the best thing we can do right now when it comes to our health. Prevention is basicly the best thing period.

The President Of The United States, Mr Barack Obama

Well, David Letterman has allegedly scored the "O" man for an appearance on his show next Monday. There will be no musical guests...or any other guests, as far as that goes. Barack will be Dave's only guest.

Don't know if I'll watch or not. I mean, I like Letterman...some days...but I just don't know if he can make Barack into the kind of guest that can hold my attention for more than...oh...3.5 seconds (yes, I have a short attention span...that's why I don't comment back to most responses).

I guess I should watch...Letterman is liable to ask a few funny questions...

Will you watch The President Of The United States, Mr Barack Obama when he performs...oops...I mean appears on the Late Show with David Letterman?

This is the AFL-CIO's version of what happened on this conference call. You can certainly decide for yourself whether to accept their word or not.

From the above article, here are some quotes attributed to the organizers:

• “We have an opportunity to realistically kill Obama’s agenda.”
• “Let’s try to keep our protests peaceful. We’re not like the union thugs.”
• “There’s a lot of coverage for poor people out there already that the Democrats don’t want you to know about. It’s just not on the radar screen.”
• “The purpose of Tea Parties is not to find a solution to the health care crisis—it is to stop what is not the solution: Obamacare.”
• When asked if we should get rid of Medicare because it is government health care: “Who is this asking?! I don’t have to answer that.”

I know I'll be getting trounced on for using an unreliable source but I saw these same things reported on the news. Anyway, whether or not you believe this stuff isn't really relevant. What I'd like to discuss is:

What do YOU think the GOP really wants to do regarding health care/health insurance reform? Do they have or will they come up with their own "better" ideas to get more people covered and bring costs down for all? If so, WHY didn't they do it when they had the majority and could have passed anything they wanted to?

What do YOU want them to do? Do YOU think our health care system needs fixing or are you totally satisfied with the status quo? If your answer to the latter is "Yes", are you at all worried you will one day lose your insurance or discover your coverage isn't enough if you have a catastrophic illness or injury?

Examples of newer treatments would be Stem Cell Research. For me the only clear solution would be more affordable, effective, and newer treatments due to such high costs currently.

Dean upset because he did not get HHS

Howard Dean is upset because he did not get the cabinet position he wanted HHS. THe gov. from Kansas is Obama's newest pick for it. Dean said he was not even vetted for the position and that as a doctor he is more qualified than Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius. Why do you think that Obama did not even consider Dean? Would he have been a better pick?
