The nurse took my blood pressure and it was low (110 over 93). Apparently one of my medicines was causing me problems. The doctor told me nor to take it anymore. The nurse also took an EKG and showed me the results. On one paper she showed me that my heart was running very slow and on another paper she showed me that I had irregular heart beats. I hope that my heart gets back to normal. I have been going to the library to get cool. My heart bothers me when I get too hot or when I think about all the bills we can not pay because we are poor. Please pray for us (including asking God to heal our autistic son.) Are any of you facing similar problems?

George Carlin Dies at 71

George Carlin died. So sad. He had heart trouble. I loved him hippy dippy weatherman. So much of his work was so out there and halarious. I am wondering what you other members think was his funniest topic? What did you like about him the best?

A Lifetime Injection!?

I have this rheumatic heart disease which concerns me a lot. I developed this condition since I was 5 years old but was only diagnosed when I'm about 14 years of age because only during that time the signs and symptoms are more likely evident. But I was lucky enough because after a year I got cured I just have to continue all my medications for maintenance.well, assured enough that I'm well I sometimes don't take my maintenance meds. As a result I was hospitalized and from oral medication it was shifted to injection....Im worried if it will be a lifetime injection or not..oh I wish it will not be coz I can't take it anymore...

myocardial infarction

I have a Myocardial Infraction way back in 2002. For a couple of years, i have stopped all extraneous activities (playing basketball, jogging, work-out, etc). I went through medications (up to now)and luckily at present i can already play basketball ,bowling, and other ball games, I can now carry heavy baggages that I can't carry before. My last visit to my doctor was i guess 2 years ago, i just continue taking his prescribed medicines.According to him, the ecg shows that my MI is now completely healed (thank GOD). I decided to post this discussion to solicit advices, experiences, and views on this issue for its quite alarming to know that cases of MI is fast increasing in our community. Its not easy to live a life with so many restrictions due to MI, Its so frustrating that we can no longer do what we used to do and live the life we used to live. I hope this discussion can help MI patients get rid of it and live their usual life without fearing recurrence of the same. I also hope to help others live a longer life by practicing a healthy lifestyle.

Do doctors ignore symptoms based on age?

Even if you have the classic symptoms of heart issues, such as shortness of breath, palpitations, chest pain, etc... do doctor's sometimes blow these symptoms off as nothing just because you're only 25 years old?

I had this happen a few years ago... I went to the doctor with these symptoms (and I'm still having them), and the doctor didn't even do so much as listen to my heart with a stethescope! He just told me I was "too young" for heart trouble, and sent me on my way.

What's up with this?! I know heart conditions are "mainly" associated with older individuals. But, is it IMPOSSIBLE for a 25 year old person to have a heart condition!? No! It's not!

Have you ever had any of your symptoms pushed to the back burner simply based on your age?

Regis having triple bypass

As you probably know, Regis announced on the show yesterday that he would be having triple by-pass surgery. He was off the show today...starting presurgery procedures. I believe he is supposed to have it tomorrow (Wednesday, 3/14/07) I am sure we will each want to include him and his family in our thoughts / prayers. I suspect it will be a long recovery. He is 75. He talked to David Letterman about the surgery...of course, Letterman had it had a much younger age so I'm sure Reg's recovery will take longer.

I am really worried about my dear sweet husband.

Last week I took my husband to the doctor cause he had been having trouble breathing and his chest has been hurting him as well. Well they did chest xrays and his lungs were fine and clear but, they also did blood work to find out some of his heart enzymes and today we recieved a letter in the mail from the doctor's office. Monday we have to go over for a lung function test which will be fairly easy for him but on the 23rd we have to go and see a heart doctor. I guess they found things wrong with his heart in his blood work. He is not that old he is however middle aged and is having so many problems already. Yet he still gets out of bed every morning hurting and all with shortness of breath and gladly goes to work. He does drink and I am afraid that the alcohol is damaging his heart as well as other organs. I sure hope that they can help him and help him find a way to help himself with this! Have any of your experienced the same troubles and what was your prognosis?
