Gil Grissom left the series. I personally think, Laurence Fishburne is doing a good job filling the void Petersen has left. I think it was a good idea that Fishburne's character "Raymond Langston" was a rookie and is still learning the ropes of the job. It's more interesting that way. What are your thoughts?

The Alchemist: A movie will be made

Paulo Coelho finally agreed to have his book the Alchemist be made into a movie by the Weinstein Company.
I am excited about the movie, Laurence Fishburne will be involved in the said movie. I am just praying that the movie would deliver the kind of message the book has delivered.

The Emmy Awards

So who watched the Emmy Awards last night? Were there any surprises for you? Anybody win who you wanted to win?

I thought Josh Grobin was amazing running through 30 television theme songs. The Ricky Gervais gig with Steve Carell was hilarious! Don Rickles was pretty good too.

I was surprised to learn that Laurence Fishburn is replacing Grissom on CSI. I don't know how I feel about that. I guess time will tell. (Yes, I did a search and found that it was mentioned in a previous discussion that I had missed originally).

I am happy that The Amazing Race won yet again for best reality show. It has won every year the category has been on the Awards. As for best game/reality show host - Jeff Probst won. As much as I like him, I think Tom Bergeron and Howie Mandel are more entertaining.

As usual, being in Canada, there were shows that I had never even heard of. Are they shown only on US Cable like HBO? Like Damages... never heard of it. It was 3 or 4 years of watching The Sopranos win before Canadian television picked up the series.

Year after year I am continually surprised that shows like Law & Order and CSI aren't in the running (sure, the probably won special effects awards in last week's arts presentations [em]rasp[/em]) but I really think these shows are deserving of nominations and I am disappointed every year when shows I have never even heard of are nominated instead of these excellent shows.

What do you think? Did you enjoy last night's show? And how about that Jimmy Kimmel, eh? [em]lol[/em]
