Travel by train or bus. These days tickets can be booked on the Internet. I booked my train travel in California with some promotional fares. I paid much less than if I had waited until I arrived in the states.

2. Fly on a budget airline. I spent an uncomfortable night on the airport floor and then I caught a budget flight to Italy. I used that as a way to reach Dubrovnik on a cheap bus trip that was overnight.

3. Get low priced accommodation. I have stayed in youth hostels and in backpacker hostels. I have stayed in my tent.

Have you any other ideas of how to travel with little money?

What was the snazziest, fanciest hotel you ever stayed at?

OF all your travels..what was the fanciest, most expensive hotel you ever stayed at?

How much did it cost?

Did you book it online or call up hotels from the yellow pages?

I would say the most expensive is where I am staying now.. it's not the fanciest

in the least..no ammenities..but it's 1000.00 a month.. all utilities paid.

There is full size fridge, little kitchenette..it's just one room

I booked it from a respnose on craigslist..it's call extneded stay hotel.

What about you?

Do you find hotels and motels and apartments are expensive?

Hi ..As my lodging I stay at a place called "Extended Stay Hotel" ..their motto is where you can "stay and stay" ..and believe it or not..it's one of the most affordable places in New Jersey to stay but it takes quite a chunk of my pay to stay..

What are some of the most inexpensive hotels you have stayed in? Do you think if you pay more you get more? Here I pay so much ..and there is no ammenities.

What have been some of your experiences with hotles? Any bad ones that make you not want to return?

Well, our next door neighbors were smoking. They were smoking so bad that the smoke was in entering in our room. So, my mate came back from work and he smelled the smoke. So, he went up to the front office and he told the receptionsist about it, and she told him that she did not want to make a scene by calling the police and having them come out.. My mate did not like her response. The people next door was talking very loudly and it was very strong smoke coming from their room to our room. Do, you think that management should enforce this rule to renters, that if they occupy a non smoking room and that if they are smokers, they should instead choose a smoking room. I wonder if the receptionist whom gave them that room asked them if they wanted non smoking or smoking. That way if they were smokers they could have had a smoking room. And if they were not, it would be their choice to choose if they wanted to be in a smoking or non smoking room or not. But, there are non smoking signs on the front door specifying that the room they were checking into is a non smoking room. I wonder if the renters paid that any attenetion. And if the housekeeping noticed the smell, then they should do their job and repoort this matter to management ASAP. Although, the room we was in has an smoke alarm in it, it still does not give others whom are smokers the right to smoke in an non smoking room.

Camping or Lodging?

When you take a vacation, do you prefer to go camping or stay at a local lodging establishment? If you prefer camping, do you go tent camping, back packing, sleep under the stars, or do you take your home on wheels (aka trailer, camper, or motorhome)? If you're a camper, do you prefer primitive camping, NPS or NFS campgrounds in National Parks and Forests (in the USA), or do you prefer trailer park style campgrounds with full hookups, like KOA? If you prefer lodging, do you like B&B's, cabins, motels, or fancier hotels?

For me, I still like camping and it's usually primitive camping. For a quick summer getaway, I like to load my pup tent, sleeping bag, mess kit, a change of clothes, and some simple food and water, onto my ATV and just take off into the mountains for a day or two. Since the mountains where I live are basically deserted except during hunting season, I can get out to where it's peaceful and my only "neighbors" are deer, elk, antelope, squirrels, chipmunks, birds, etc. Since I work at a large resort, getting away from people is most relaxing to me.

When You Stay In A

Hotel/Motel do you check the price of the rooms before booking in.

Or are you normally so tired you could not care about the cost.

Here is a little something, that may help change your mind,

If you do not check prices first.

"Next time you think your hotel bill is too high you might want to consider this...

Husband and wife are traveling by car from Melbourne to Noosa.

After almost twenty-four hours on the road, they’re too tired to continue, and they decide to stop for a rest.

They stop at a lovely hotel and take a room, but they only plan to sleep for four hours and then get back on the road.

When they check out four hours later, the desk clerk hands them a bill for $350.00.

The man explodes and demands to know why the charge is so high. He tells the clerk although it's a nice hotel, the rooms certainly aren't worth $350.00!

When the clerk tells him $350.00 is the standard rate, the man insists on speaking to the Manager.

The Manager appears, listens to the man, and then explains that the hotel has an Olympic-sized pool and a huge conference centre that were available for the husband and wife to use.

'But we didn't use them,' the man complains.

'Well, they are here, and you could have,' explains the Manager. He goes on to explain they could have taken in one of the shows for which the hotel is famous. 'The best entertainers in the world perform here,' the Manager says.

'But we didn't go to any of those shows,' complains the man again.

'Well, we have them, and you could have,' the Manager replies.

No matter what amenity the Manager mentions, the man replies, 'But we didn't use it!' The Manager is unmoved, and eventually the man gives up and agrees to pay. He writes a cheque and gives it to the Manager.

The Manager is surprised when he looks at the cheque. 'But sir,' he says, this cheque is only made out for $50.00.'

'That's correct,' says the man. 'I charged you $300.00 for sleeping with my wife.' 'But I didn't!' exclaims the Manager.

'Well, that's too bad,' the man replies. 'She was here and you could have.' "

Will this help you to make sure you check the prices first. LOL

The best and least exspensive way is Cruising!
If you really think about it.
on a cruise ship
you get all your lodging, activities, food, beverages.

The only extra you would have to pay for is your air to the port if one is not near you.
If you do a land package you will have to pay for
Lodging
Food
Transportation to different country - which by the way is not cheap
beverages
Activities

I am very interested in doing something like this, but I am unable to find any information. I heard that some of these camps pay for your transportation to get to the camp and as well pay for your food and lodgings on top of your regular pay. Does anyone know anything about these types of camps? I would love to go up north to work, but I cant afford the transportation.
