Sherlock Holmes, Hercules Poirot, Miss Maple, Adam Dalghish and others.
Who do you like best and why?
Personally I like to read Sherlock Holmes. He is very cool and strong physically. Plus he plays violin and I like to listen to classical music.

Anyone a Freemason?

I am petitioning a lodge and curious of <a href="http://www.payoffyourmortgages.com" alt="Pay Off Your Mortgage" target="_blank">your</a> experience? yes, it was a bummer that the stons lose to the celtics in 6 games. i was really hoping that thsi is the year that they'll return to the finals and win another title. oh well, there's always next year. one thing i'll miss with detroit gone is the palyer introduction doen by mason. he's the pa announcer for the team and he does his job real well. he hypes up the crowd at the palace and you can tell that every fan is howling their lungs out. i liek hoe he announces dice as well as sheed. i also like how mason says to give a warm palace welcome to the visiting team and you'd hear the fans boo the starting five of the opposing team.

anyone else like how detroit's mason does their pre-game introductions?

hope to hear from all of you detroit fans.

freemasonry

what do you peeps think about freemasonry?

is anyone here a mason

i've been doing research on the masons for an exhibit i'm building for a museum. the masons in our community have donated artifacts about 4 years ago and we finally have room for the exhibit. i'm just looking for some info on the difference between a working tool and a jewel. if anyone has any info i'd appreciate it. i can't seem to find a clear explanation anywhere

Has anyone else heard of the Secret Society?

Tell me <a href="http://www.whatisira.com" alt="What Is Ira" target="_blank">what</a> you know or have heard about the secret society?

Should I repaint my cabinets or get rid of them completely?

We're thinking about doing some home remodeling. It's been almost four years since we moved in, so remodeling is well past due. And, one of my biggest pet peeves in our house turns out to be my cabinets. Personally, I never liked the way they looked. The person that lived here before painted them a stark white color and now there is no getting rid of it.

So, I was wondering, what would you rather do if you simply disliked your cabinets. Would you have someone come in and take out the old cabinets for new ones? Would you have your current cabinets refaced and new doors put on them? Or, would you simply repaint your existing cabinets to freshen up the look of your kitchen? Just pretend for a minute that you're not on a budget! I wish I could.

Shoe Shine

Do you polish your shoes? I am wondering if it is a lost practice. I used to polish my shoes when I was a child, but anymore it seems like I usually wear canvas or suede shoes.
We have a shoe shine kit wooden box that has a raised foot on the top, that is on a slanted angle. You keep the polishes and brushes inside and step on the wooden sole to have your shoe polished.
My husband was in the military and had to keep his boots and shoes shined, he would brush and buff those buggers - but never while they were still on his feet. His polish was a thick black waxy gunk that was in a tin. The last time we were at a military base we saw that they had a booth set up in the PX for shining the boots. The boots would be dropped off for later pick-up, I do not recall the price off hand but do remember thinking THAT is outragious! I am thinking it was in the neighborhood of $15 a pair!
The polish I used as a child came in a bottle with a sponge tip, and you brushed the liquid polish/color onto the shoes. I used to use white the most as I liked to cover up the smudges on my leather Nikes.

Texas Rains

It has been raining non stop here on the Texas Gulf Coast for forty five days. This got me to thinking. In the Bible, God promised Noah he would never flood the earth again. Noah forgot to hand down to us the fine print! What God meant was he would never flood the entire earth again eliminating all of it's occupants. The fine print leaves a lot of room for God to play as can be witnessed right here in Texas. There are parts of the state flooding but other parts are not despite the fact that it has rained for more than the forty days the Noah experienced.

I was watching the news this evening and the newscaster was doing a man on the street interview about the fact that a major interchange in Houston has had signs up for five weeks saying certain ramps would be closed, while the rains have prevented the construction from progressing. The person being interviewed was upset because the signs have been "lying" to him for weeks and he can't depend on them to plan his travel. When the construction resumes, he anticipates being caught off guard and thus in a traffic jam.

Well I can't tell you just how fast my heart began to bleed crunchy peanut butter for him! How about all the construction workers who are not salaried employees who keep getting sent home because site conditions won't allow work? I wonder if they'll be inconvenienced when they show up at their offices tomorrow to collect their checks with no hours on them?

This is something I know a lot about as I am a concrete superintendent for a contractor in the city and I have not been able to pour foundations, driveways and public sidewalks for weeks due to the rain. It has put a major hurting on the construction industry as a whole and makes me thankful I am a salaried employee.

Hows the weather in your area this year? Is it following patterns of past seasons or are you experiencing abnormal conditions like we are here in Texas?

What is the cause for the abnormal weather pattern? El Nina perhaps?
