I will show you my trick to succeed, so take out your pencil and paper and take some notes. First things first. There are numerous websites that you can find merchants that are looking for affiliates, these merchants offer you a commission on sales you send their way, others even offer you a commission on leads or referrals you send them and I am not talking about pennies. If you need to find one or more of these sites ask me and I will get you started on the right path. The first mistake people make when trying to do affiliate marketing is getting one of those free web hosting accounts. To be successful you need to own your own domain name, and have a paid hosting account. Your domain name should reflect the product you are promoting. Next mistake is creating a web page with banners pasted everywhere, This looks like spam, especially to a search engine, your site will never receive a good search results listing with a page like this. You must not be a link farm, Write some quality content on your page using two and three keyword phrases that people can use when using a search engine to find you, write at least two or three good paragraphs about your topic, and use those keyword phrases. Then provide the visitor with your links to your affiliate, this can be done with text links, banners, search boxes or even if possible you can get data feeds or rss feeds from their site to yours for extra content. Then chose about five to ten keyword phrase to use in your meta keyword tag, make sure these phrases are actually in your content, don't use words not found in your text, then add your best words to your title tag, this is the second biggest mistake new website owners make, thinking this is the title of your store or website, it isn't, this is the title of the page, and it should have your best keyword phrases in it, this is what shows in the blue bar at the top of your browser, and is one of the biggest meta tags search engines use to place your site in its results pages, too many times I see "welcome to our site". So now you have content and meta tags, and one topic for your site along with your affiliate, now to jump start your income you need promotion. DO NOT use AdWords or ppc advertisement, you will go broke. Use off line advertisement, for example, lets say you are promoting an identity theft prevention site, Place ads in local paper or some kind of bi weekly free ads papers, Write a to the point ad telling people they need to protect their identity online and to go to your site on information on how to do it. What ever it is you are promoting, your best resource for getting customers to your site and eventually to your affiliates site for a purchase is offline promotion, tell me when have you seen walmart use AdWords? no they use off line promotions, Print, TV, and radio. This is how i make money online everyday, when you have been online a while and are making some good money, then concentrate more on SEO and getting a good results page on Google for your keywords, Then when you are getting a good number of visitors to your site, You will see your AdSense revenue explode.
