Pauling conducted another study in 1978. This analysis broke out the improved survival times by cancer type. For each type of cancer there was an improvement in survival.

A latest study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, confirms the works of Dr. Linus Pauling. Read the whole thing here:http://www.squidoo.com/lypo-spheric-vitamin-c

I attended one of those home parties recently and was talking with some friends and my cousins, they mentioned having a fundraiser to help a close friend (who I have only met a few times) who has and inoperaable cancer tumor. This friend really loved Halloween it was her favourite time of year. Everyone banded together rented a hall, got a DJ to play for the night, in the process of getting the required licenses, etc etc all as a surprise to make this friends last days more memorable.
I got word tonight that she didn't make it she passed away last night. She had no knowledge of what a wonderful thing her friends were doing for her.
A bunch of us have suggested continuing with the fundraiser and giving the funds to her family to help with the funeral expenses and anything that comes up with her estate.
Of course the party won't be the same with out this friend however it will celebrate her life at a celebration party on her favourite holiday.
I can't wait to be apart of such a memorable day.....
Rest In Peace K.

I miss my Mom!

July 11th was the 10 year anniversary of my Moms death. I don't even know why they call it an anniversary, since it's certainly not an event to be celebrated.
Even though it has been 10 years, I still miss her terribly. I like remembering her and thinking about all the things she has said and done, but if I linger too long I think about how she died and it brings back all the pain and grief.

My Mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 1998 and passed away from this horrible illness a year and a half year later. She was only 59 and was looking forward to enjoying retirement with my Dad. She was the most wonderful lady I have ever known. She was loving, caring and selfless. She was a mother hen and always made sure her little ones were taken care off, no matter how old they were.

She told me once that she doesn't care how old I am, I will always be her baby. I am the youngest of five (we were 6 for a short while) children, so she doted on me a lot, especialy after my little sister passed away at the age of 1.

The night she died, was the most horrible night of my life. My brother came knocking on my door at 2 in the morning and I knew then that this was what I was afraid off.
The doctor has already come and gone by the time we got there and has given my Mom a strong painkiller. I held her hand until she passed away.
It was the hardest thing I ever did, but I knew that this was the least I could do for her.
This moment haunts me to this day, but I would do it again if I had to, because I love my Mom and she would have done the same for me, no matter how painful.

I urge everybody out there to love your Mom with all their heart and show it every change you get, because you don't know how long you will have her around.
I know I will always miss her, but I hope it will get easier to talk about her as more years pass.

Pancreatic cancer is a horrible disease and if you ever have a chance to take part in a walk for the cure or something similar, please consider doing so. I know I certainly will.

Do you have a hard time to talk about deceased loved ones? Do you try to help to fight cancer?

Patrick Swayze has pancreatic cancer. True or not true?

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23488585/LOS ANGELES - Patrick Swayze’s doctor is “optimistic” about his prognosis for battling pancreatic cancer, and the “Dirty Dancing” actor’s upcoming cable pilot is still in contention to become a series.
Swayze has been undergoing treatment for the disease, Wolf confirmed in a statement. The National Cancer Institute estimates there will be 37,680 new cases of pancreatic cancer in 2008 with 34,290 deaths in the U.S.; only five percent of patients live more than five years after being diagnosed.
Patrick Swayze has five weeks to live, The NATIONAL ENQUIRER has learned.
I heard that this is untrue. Does anyone have any opinions. He is one of my favorite actors and he is way hot and this is really sad news.

Ginsburg has surgery for pancreatic cancer

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Ginsburg had surgery today for pancreatic cancer. The only woman on the court, she has been a justice since 1993. Pancreatic cancer is one of the most deadly cancers. She is only one of two females ever Supreme Court Justices. More can be learned about her at

Sad she is having to deal with cancer for the second time. While no one can be sure of length of life, it is possible President Obama will need to appoint a replacement. In the meantime, prayers to her and her family.

Heads Up: Barbara Walters Special With Patrick Swayze

I'm not much of a TV watcher at all, but Wednesday, February 7, on ABC at 10 p.m. there will be a Barbara Walters Special where she will interview Patrick Swayze.

If you're a Patrick Swayze fan then you may have been aware that last year he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I've been a fan of his ever since I saw him in the classic movie of his that made him famous, Dirty Dancing.
So if you're a fan of his you might be interested in watching this show...and maybe after it's over we can talk about it here.

So...are you a fan of his...if so besides Dirty Dancing, what other movies have you seen him in? I saw him in the mini-series North and South, Next of Kin, Roadhouse, Ghost, City of Joy, Tiger Warsaw, To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything Julie Newmar, Point Break, Three Wishes, Red Dawn, Tall Tales of Pecos Bill ....sheesh..didn't realized I had seen so many...

Patrick Swayze and his cancer fight

It is said that his cancer is back and spreading and that he is saying his good byes to his loved onces. I was so sad reading this. It is not fair when a person has x days to live and knows his end is near. He is one of the few rare actors that hardly ever gave reason to raise eyebrows like many do. He was with the same women for 33 years (I think thats how long it is) some actors change 33 women in a year. I remember I was 8 years old when Dirty dancing came out and everyone (my sister and cousins) were allowed to see it and I wasnt but later I watched the music clip and me and my sister learned to do the steps it was so fun. So he is part of my childhod.
Do you feel sad about him and what is happening to him? What are your best memories of him?
