July 14 is the radio show at 9AM. But now I work and I hate to ask for time off. I already took time off (1/2 a day on the 3rd of July) for the 4th of July so I could cook because I had promised a potato salad and jello salad for the next day and I already said that my husband has the last two weeks in July off. The last two weeks, I would like to take some time with my husband.

But when I said, "Yes," to my friend, I really didn't think I would get work so fast. Right after the last day of working for the Pet Food company (also after the last week working for school districts), I received a call from an Elderly couple to go to work. Which was a very big surprise. A very welcome surprise, too.

Now my friend still wants me to do the radio show with her about Wild Foods and you know how I feel about wild foods. I am trying to find a compromise since she feels this is a really late time to cancel on her. Like maybe if the station has more than one line, I can do my part of it as a call-in at the home of the elderly people if they would let me. They could dock me a couple hours pay. The couple I work for, she is really into wild foods. She could actually be a help.

I hate upsetting my friend. But due to my frequent job changes, I have a hard time keeping friends because I have said NO to all plans ahead for years. Since 1998, so then people stop asking and friends drift away. It's hard to have friendships with jobs where I worked weekends or evenings. That was another surprise, I seldom get day jobs because that's what everyone wants. So I didn't do it to spite her and I didn't know this was coming until it actually happened. This is sooo frustrating.

I'm Gonna Be On The Radio!!! I Am! I Am!

I'm so excited I can barely contain myself and just had to share it with you all!

I just got off the phone with a reporter from the CBC Regina Morning Edition Radio
Show.

Seems she was sent the article in the Tribune-Democrat about my relationship with our own dear you know who, whom we recently lost.

So tomorrow morning, my VOICE, is going to be on the radio, broadcast all over the world (!) in an on air telephone interview about how friendships grow, blossom and change our lives, all from one serendipidous connection online. Kinda like 'good news for a change' about the internet. LOL

The interview will also promote the chipin site for the college fund and hopefully more people will be touched and will check it out (read contribute) if my words are eloquent enough.

So go out and beg, borrow or steal a Sirrius Radio folks and tune to CBC Canada at 7:24am Central time to hear my golden tones!

Do you listen to the radio talk shows much?
If not.....START TOMORROW! LOL

They just called me a little bit ago to let me know that I won one of them!

To commerate Ruby's Walk Across America tomorrow in DC, they are giving away an I-pod shuffle, a $10 I-tunes gift card, a list of Ruby's favorite workout songs, pedometer, water bottle and tote bag.

I can't beleive I won, although I do tend to win quite a bit - probably once a year or so...

I was really glad that winning this prize does not make me inelligible for the big prizes they're also giving away right now - $1,000 if they call my name out on the radio or a trip for 4 to Orlando if I am the right caller when they play a specific song each day.

Have you won anything off the radio? Or do you even try to?

Don't ya just hate commercials?

We all have to see them or hear them, on TV, radio, in magazines (ads) etc. I have recently been perturbed with my favorite radio show as they now seem to be slipping back into their old habits of commercials for at least 20 minutes out of an hour of broadcasting. Over and over, the same commercials, ad nauseum. I just hate it. What do these advertisers think we are, idiots? Does anyone else feel the same way as I do?

Calling all Conversatives (and Liberals if you can help too)!! I Need Your Help

I need you to help me understand a few things, since I do not listen to talk radio. This morning the newspaper was laying on the table opened to the political section, now honestly I don't read this part of the newspaper but I did because my husband said there was something in there about autism.

I have never heard of this man, Michael Savage but I was reading an editorial explaining about how he said that autism was a "fraud, a racket", I tried to find his original radio broadcast of this message and/or his website but was unable to find anything, mostly what appearred to be opinions and I don't want to read/hear opinions, I would like to hear/read what was actually said. I was also wondering where Mr. Savage received his medical degree if anyone would also be so kind to pass that information along .

I was also wondering if Conversatives believe this as well, that autism does not exist, that it is just out of control children without fathers. Thank you in advance for any information about this. And, please be nice, I am not insulting anyone, I am just asking about a subject that I don't know about and can't find factual information about it.

Should you speak ill of your colleagues?

I was tuning in to one of my favorite radio stations. Nah, actually I was frequency-surfing till I hit on a channel playing a song that I liked. After the song ended, the bright, chirpy voice of the DJ cut through and said "Hi! This is Jamie and I am keeping you company today AGAIN". Well, Jamie isn't her real name but we will use that to protect the "innocent".

Jamie had just taken over the shift and she was commenting on how she was not supposed to be on duty today. She went on to describe how she saw Mike (the guy supposed to be working today) yesterday and that he was down with a bad cough - sick just like another colleague. She remarked that quite a few people seemed to have fallen ill lately and it was important to learn how to take care of oneself. She said that working was important but knowing how to deal with work stress was vital too. This last bit was what irked me.

She used a very innocent-sounding tone but as I was listening to her, it just struck me that there was an underlying implication that those 2 colleagues of hers did not know how to handle stress as well as her - that's why they fell sick and she did not. Only Jamie herself knows if she meant anything by her "innocent" remarks.

This was broadcast live on air so it seemed many times worse than "merely" gossiping behind someone's back to a third party. Do you think it is right for Jamie to speak ill of her colleagues this way? No doubt it was phrased in a seemingly light-hearted way, the implication is still there for any who could read it. What do you think? Was she right or wrong? Is it acceptable to talk bad behind your colleagues' backs?

Still listen to the radio ?

Do you still listen to the radio every day right now?
