I am facing some problems with recovering my PC to factory default settings.

Firstly, I have lost the Windows XP Operating System Disk given by the manufacture company for every new PC being purchased.

Secondly, I encountered this error message: fltmgr.sys is corrupted, setup will be cancelled after I tried to boot into the recovery environment via the recovery disk given by manufacture company.

Thirdly, I need advice on how to restore my PC to default factory settings and I have already backup my data.

Best Regards

1) check whether your antivirus, operating system security updates are upto date..
2) try to install regcure, tuneup utilities softwares which is used to clean registry, fix registry problems, removes unwanted files from hard drive, system optimizer and speed up your computer.
3) make sure your system firewall is on..
4) try to backup your important datas once every week..or back your important files in one drive or folder and lock them with password by using folder password softwares..
5) trojan viruses initially crashes the antivirus and crashes the system.install trojan remover software..
6) to remove trojan, spywares, malwares(which always stores in temporary backup folders)..install xoftspy software for cleaning..
7) try to reinstall your operating system or os recovery disk 2 months once so that you can delete unwanted used spaces(dont forget to back your datas)..

thanks

Some have stated that they do it up to 2 times a year just to keep it a clean system. some re-install it due to a virus WHY?

There is a Disk clean up utility built in to the OS why not use it? Problem with the OS why not use the fix and repair options? System slowing down Just clean the system of temp files and defrag? Problem with the disk drive. There is an old utility called chkdsk will do the same thing as a format and take a lot less time that formatting and re-installing everything (which can take days to get everything back to normal. Only thing is you have to reboot and it will run at boot up. from the dos prompt which will fix and repair your disk drive and file system? Virus on your computer (I just saw this today) why not try a new virus scanner and run it from the CD or have a recovery disk it if gets into the Boot Sector.

Point is it takes a lot more time to re-install the OS properly than trying the other options first.

Re-Installing your OS

I have read many a discussions on here and can never figure out why so many when they have problems with the OS that the first option is to re-install the OS.

I have a Toshiba Satellite and I'm pretty sure now the hard drive is fried, due to a bad fan that overheated. I am going to try to replace the hard drive (easy) and fan (hard) myself. So, my questions is this, if anyone knows. The original hard drive was 60GB, 4200rpm. As long as it is the same size and interface, can I put an 80GB or even 120GB in there? Does anyone know if my OS (Windows XP) will be on my recovery disk, or will I have to buy a new copy of XP?

Need new harddrive

I think I need a new harddrive in my laptop. Do I have to get the same kind, or can I get a newer, better harddrive? I have a Toshiba Satellite, A60/A65 series. If I get a new harddrive, can I still use my recovery disk to format it? Keep in mind I know just enough to be really dangerous around advanced electronics.

When the computer starts the desktop is empty - no status ..

When the computer starts the desktop is empty - no status bar at the topor finader or anything.
