So what do you think about them, any bad experiences?

Rent A Center! Do or Don't?

Has anyone used Rent A Center before? If so, what was your experience like? I know they have huge Rent to Own charges. But if your credit is bad and you want something now, it seems like the only alternative. I know I have paid them enough money myself. I think they are ok if you can pay the item off in 90 days, but if don't it just gets ridiculous. They say No Worry, but have you ever tried to get something fixed through them, it takes forever, and that is if they get it fixed, at least that is how it is where I live. Yeah or Nay for RAC, any other alternatives to purchasing things with bad credit. I am personally on the border, and yes I currently do have a rental agreement through them. Looking forward to your responses!

Have you ever thought about renting from a rent a center or other rental store?

For years I've rented my computers from either Rent A Center or Colortyme (which the one I'm on now comes from). It does end up costing more in the long run but they will have a man at your house within hours if you have a problem with your pc and if he can't fix it they take it back and give you a loaner until it's fixed. Since you're paying for it they never let you go without it. In the last 30 or so years I've actually purchased 2 computers, a camcorder and a beautiful bedroom set from Rent A Center and have always been very happy with everything.

Have you ever rented furniture or an appliance from a rental company such as Rent A Center, Colortyme or Rainbow Rental? If not would you consider doing it? If you have what were your experiences?

Teens and Rent-A-Center

Last month my 17 year old stepson came home with a brand new XBox 360. When asked where he got it, he said it was a Valentine's Day present from his girlfriend. It seemed like a pretty expensive gift for a 17 year old to buy considering she doesn't have a real job and only works maybe 3 hours on weekends when she goes to his job with him. But I remembered he'd ask me how lay-away at Kmart works so we all just assumed that they had done that and had been paying it off over the 8-10 weeks lay-away allows.

Well yesterday I was on the phone with his mom and she asked if he still had the XBox and then told me that the girlfriend had gotten it from Rent-A-Center and was making $30 a month payments on it![em]angry[/em]

Now, I've never used Rent-A-Center but I've heard stories about people who have in the end paid thousands of dollars for small items like tv's and VCRs just because they went through places like that.

So now we have two teenagers who make $80 a week (on a good week) between them, making $30 a month payments on an XBox 360, trying to buy a second vehicle, and not trying too hard to not become parents.....Do teenagers brains just not function at all![em]doh[/em]

But my real point is...what is Rent-A-Center doing renting to teenagers without actual jobs?! I mean it seems like pretty crappy business practices to target teens with the offer of an XBox knowing that they'll pay the minimum payment for years or at the very least pay a good deal of money only to have to return it when they can't make payments anymore.[em]thumbdown[/em] I guess that's how they make their money though...

How do you go about buying furniture for your home?

I was thinking of buying a new pullout. it would replace my full size bed. I would then have room to have an office during the daytime and bedroom at night. You would have to see my room to understand. I have no walking space here. I was thinking after looking through furniture books last night.
It may be better for me to go to rent a center or Aaron's. Fine my favorite furniture and pay it out over 3 payments. This way I won't have that extra charge and get the top of the line furniture. This is how I bought my computer. It was cheaper there that dell and complete.
How do you shop for furniture. Also what do you think of the rent a center option?

Rent A Center woes

I seem to be posting alot in this category. Now my husband is starting to piss me off royally. He doesn't have a job yet he seems to think he can dictate where the money goes. We owe RAC like $300. We were waiting to hear if the benefits plus was going to cover our payments since he lost his job but we were denied. The manager there, who is also my husband's cousin, said it would be in our best interest to take the tv back. I am fine with that, we dont' need a big screen tv but we do need the furniture. My husband is telling me that he'd rather send the furniture back. It's like who the hell are you? He don't contribute anything to the household except for his measly unemployment that I applied for for him cause he wasn't even going to do it. Makes me so mad.

Check this out!

I had made a post before about Rent A Center and the problems we were having with them. Well our account manager Matt wanted us to pay all the back rent on our stuff. Well Mike's boy works at another Rent A Center in town and he said the guy was trying to rip us off cause they aren't even allowed to collect back rent. Well Matt is no longer our account manager and here's why:
