His magnum opus. His ability to intertwine reality and fiction is remarkable. I found myself actually staring to wonder if some dreams/ideas are just imagination, or a peek into a world unknown.
What did you think of the series?

Those Whom We Love

I know this is long, but please read this.

My great grandmother, Alice, was a charming, quirky woman. She always wore the cutest, most elaborate outfit for any occasion that would put a smile on the face of any spectator. She was one of the funniest women I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. If you were to step foot in her home, you would be greeted by the friendly stuffed animals, dolls, and vintage toys carefully positioned throughout her living room. My mother never liked the fact that piles of junk would greet her grandmother’s guests as well, so she wouldn’t take my siblings and I to see her often. My great grandmother never threw anything out. She kept mail, postcards, stamps, bills, gift boxes, candy, and letters from twenty years ago. My mother always told me that Alice kept all of her “junk” because she wanted to be prepared if another Great Depression would plague America. Even though my great grandmother appeared to be the most disorganized person on the planet, she never once forgot my birthday. Her letters to my sister and I would always come in the mail a day or two before our birthday (to be given on our birthday). My parents admitted that those letters were often “post-it note” reminders to pick up a last minute cake.

My great grandmother was full of life up until her mid 90s. She developed Dementia around the age of 96. She started losing certain memories, like the death of her brother. Eventually, my great grandmother’s memory was so deteriorated that she could no longer take care of herself. My mother and my grandmother decided it was best to put Alice in a nursing home. My great grandmother was extremely upset and refused to be put in a nursing home. She had no choice. She was weak. She would eat expired food. She would leave the oven on. She would wear the same clothes because she was unable to reach the washer in her basement. She would forget to pay her bills. She wasn’t safe in Baltimore City with her condition.

She couldn’t take care of herself.

A few weeks after my great grandmother was placed in a nursing home, our family started receiving phone calls regarding Alice’s stubborn behavior. Alice would refuse to take her pills. She refused to get out of bed. And she would refuse to eat the food the nurses would give her. Our entire family (adults) had a meeting one day to discuss Alice’s condition and whether she should continue her stay at the nursing home. My mother offered to take Alice home with us and hire a day nurse to tend to her needs. We went through with that plan, but it didn’t work out. Alice’s health was still deteriorating. She would injure herself trying to get out of her bed when no one was watching. We decided to put Alice in a smaller nursing home, closer to us so we could visit her often. Alice was miserable in that nursing home. It showed in her eyes, even when she smiled. We all felt guilty that we had to do this to a loved one. One day, my mother and I went to visit my great grandmother to make small talk with her for a while. We then said our goodbyes and headed out to the parking lot. I reached the car first and got in. A couple seconds later, my mother got into the car and sat there staring out the windshield. I wondered why she was so hesitant to start the car. All the sudden, she burst into tears, crying out loud for nearly two minutes. I was shocked at that moment because I had never seen my mother cry before. I didn’t know how to comfort her, so I just sat stiffly in the passenger seat, trying not to cry myself. My great grandmother died two days later. It has been two years since that day. Although she may be gone, she will never be forgotten. You’re in my heart, grandma Alice.

Please feel free to share a story about a loved one who has passed on. I will not be commenting this time, but I will read them. Thank you.

I'm using the Roland TD-20. Compared with an accoustic drum set I have many advantages... I can play at any day and night time, without disturbing neighbours, I've about 50 different drum kits I can choose from depending of what music style I wanna play. I can define any kind of cymbals, toms, snares etc. And last but not least, it's very easy to record it since you just plug in one single cable to the mixing board and you have the perfect drum sound.

Even I love to play on accoustic sets, the E-drums gave me completly new opportunities. What are you guys thinking about it?

The Dark Tower by Stephen King

Have you read The Dark Tower books by Stephen King? This are not the usual type of Stephen King novel. I really enjoyed them. there are seven books, and after I read the first one I couldn't wait to read the next one. My daughter read the novel and told me about it, so I gave them a try. It made me laugh and even sometimes cry. I think Stephen King could have done better with the ending, but I still enjoyed reading it. The first book is slow, but once you get past the first one your hooked.

which is your favourite musical instrumen?

which is your favourite musical instrument of each kind... like in percussion, wind instrument , in string instrument?

Everyday, we are confronted with signs and symbols which are embedded in our lives. These signs, though subliminal as they might seem, have their meanings that can be interpreted only if we look at them as part of a complex situation. As Roland Barthes puts in his article "Myth Today", semiology, as a science of signs, deals with values and is not contented with meeting the facts as it explores signs and symbols as tokens for something else.

Which Keyboard Brand Do You Prefer?

There are many keyboard brand available all over the world. I have only played using Yamaha, Roland, Korg, and Technics keyboard. All of them certainly have unique features, pros, and cons.

I prefer Korg for a Synthesizer since Korg is very great at mixing sound together (I have used Triton). For an Arranger Keyboard I certainly prefer Yamaha keyboard. New Yamaha keyboard are developed with great technology, they offer so many creative style and sounds. Recently I am using PSR S900 series, it's a very great stuff. For Roland brand, I don't really like newer Roland brand since they are a bit difficult in operation and the sound quality is below Yamaha keyboard in average for keyboard with same price range.

What about you? Which Keyboard brand do you prefer and why do you prefer it?

Which is your favourite book of the dark tower series?

The dark tower is a series of seven novels that explain the trip of Roland looking for a misterious building known as the dark tower. It is composed of the following titles:

1. The Gunslinger
2. The Drawing of the Three
3. The Waste Lands
4. Wizard and Glass
5. Wolves of the Calla
6. Susannah´s Song
7. The Dark Tower

And here is my question, which of these books is your favourite (and why, of course). Mine is Wizard And Glass because is a novel full of action and pure love and you don´t have to wait several years to complete it. I mean you can know everything about the relationship between Roland and Susan (from the beginning to the end) in a single book.

But should that happen? And if it does, what form should it take? Should it be new original stories set in Mid-World or just adaptations of the novels? Who should portray Roland? Jake? Susannah? Eddie? Should Oy be all CG or a muppet? Let me know what you think. Maybe we'll get enough discussion going that we may actually influence the process.

Roland Burris Will Be Sworn in This Week

He is now officially the senator-designee of Illinois. What do you think? I think it is about time. He was chosen by the sitting governor of Illinois. Blagojevich had not yet been impeached, nor had he resigned. Burris is legally in the right, and I think it is a shame Harry Reid and the other senators were willing to ignore the law for so long.
