Window fans, Kick the Can, roller skates with keys,
coonskin caps, hula hoops, 45 records,
cherry cokes, juke boxes, pony tails, bobbi sox,
penny loafers, sideburns, Breck & Halo Shampoo,
drive in movies, jacks, going home for lunch,
marbles, monopoly, rabbit ears, aluminum glasses,
sweater sets, white gloves, and can can slips,
the smell of Old Spice, penny candy, and
Mother May I.
Sleeping with all of the windows open, going to town and not locking the doors, picnics at the lake, picking up the receiver to the telephone and hearing someone say, "Number Please", getting into the movies with an empty Gandy's milk carton.
What things do you remember that aren't around anymore?

Next door is a thift store... I thought while my DD2 is in class I would stop in and kill some time. I neded up taking home alot of items.
I found an almost new Nascar Sleeping Bag, Nascar comforter, a WOK (appeared to of only been used 1x), 1 complete set of 26 kids books ( I have one of the books already & I really liked the one we had), a crochet baby blanket (I want to learn the pattern, & if I can't then I'll tear it appart and reuse the yarn), hats, mittens, scarf's, kids roller skates (the ones you learn on and wear with your shoes), a partial set of DISNEY books in new condition, and a FP truck for DS.... for $32.

So when I don't stop in with any intentions of buying anything I come out with some finds...

How bout you?

Before you begin to skate, there are things you should know.

* Register for Ice Skating Lessons
Group ice skating lessons cover many figure skating basics and are a good way to get started in the sport.

* Dress Like a Figure Skater
Certain types of clothes should be worn by figure skaters.
* Buy Skates
Rental skates are okay to use if you just want to try out ice skating, but if you are serious about learning to figure skate, it is essential that you buy good boots and blades.

* How to Lace Figure Skates
Figure skates must be laced correctly.

* Take Some Private Figure Skating Lessons
Group lessons will get you started with mastering figure skating basics, but private lessons are required for those who wish to advance at the sport.

* Set a Practice, Lesson, and Training Schedule
To improve at figure skating, a skater must practice regularly.

* Join a Figure Skating Club
When you first begin to figure skate, you do not have to join a figure skating club, but as a skater advances, there is a time when joining a figure skating club becomes necessary.

* Compete in Competitions and Take Figure Skating Tests
There are two different ice skating associations in the United States and there are competitive and test programs that are available to figure skaters of all ages and levels.

Please help, only if you know what your talking about. Seema was an amatuer mountain bike racer who was preparing for the student champoinships in Autralia. She bought some expensive new wheels from Spokes Ltd that had been made to their new design. Whilst she was training abroad, a desingh fault in her new front wheel caused the tyre to burst and she crashed breaking several bones. She can no longer ride competitively. Consider whether a duty of care has been breached in this case. Please go by the following factors:

Are there any special charactertistics of the defendent?
Are there any special characteristics of the claimant?
What is the size of the risk?
Have all practical precautions been taken?
What are the benefits of taking the risk?

If you know what you are talking about then you'll know what the above factors are.
Many thanks if you do help! :]

Have you ever went to a Roller Rink?

Omg well I did yesterday afternoon. First time I fell on the icy lake where I was skating. I was about twelve and very energetic. We had a deal that we do performances on skates and on the finish we do fake fall. My fall didn't come out quite fake, I fell after decided to do somersault. Auch, it hurt a lot. My friends thought that's the fake fall and clapped. Next day I got gyps around my left hand.
My right hand broke in the summer when I was 15 years old. I played football with my brother in out yard, as it wasn't too big the football field was tiny. My brother got angry after his little sister (me) got a goal and from his all strength kicked a ball straight in my goal but me silly girl put my loose hand to stop the ball, and it broke.

You Know You Grew Up In The 80's If...

I just found this using stumble, like all my great stuff lol.

Alright everyone. I know you all miss something from the past...

I miss many things. I know with the years and the brilliant minds that take us on journeys to new heights that we now have many gagets and gizmos that people some people never thought of. But someone did and produced it.
What I miss from the past though are very differetn things. Like the smell of my mother in her favorite perfume she use to wear. The clothes she so carefully took out and matched to see if this or that suited her today.
Everyday the ladies and guys got dressed as if they had someplace to go or was meeting someone. Even if they weren't.
I use to try on my moms clothes and wear her shoes. I'm sure many young girls did this years ago.

We had to use our imagination. A broom made a nice horse to run around on, lol. We took our skates and got the wheels of of them and put them on a board to roll around on. Now someone invented something like it, skate boards. We played house and doctor. Played on the playgrounds that were near every section of homes in a community. There were not the things for kids that that are today. We used our imagination for playing and stayed outside practically all day, unless it was time to go in and eat.

You could go to the store and 1 cent would get you three pieces of penny candy.
The candy bars of chocolate were twice as big as they are now and only cost five cents. A soda cost 15 but the bottle was glass and dependin gif you had the small one or the big one we paid a 5 cent or 10 cent deposit on the glass bottle.
We would take bottles to keep from paying for the deposit. Or find a bunch of them here and there and take them to a store for the deposit so we could buy something.
Six loaves of bread was a dollar, on sale hey we got more.
Now don't get me wrong I do like many inventions. From the analog to digital world we now have today. More than 3 channels on tv to watch and they are in color. You know what else? We can afford more than one tv in the homes now. And we have phones that we can just walk around with. They use to be bulky old black things that had dials and we had to have party lines in some areas. If you could afford it you got a single line.

I would think that not many even know what a party line is! We had to share a phone line with someone we didn't know. If the phone rang both families picked it up and if it was for you, well you stayed on the line. If it was for the other family...you hung up. How much do you want to bet that many times people didn't hang up, lol. Curiosity got the better of them and they listened in a bit.
A camera now is not one that we have to put film in and wait for it to pop out and cahnge to the picture we took, or put a roll of film in, they are digital we can delete what doesn't turn out. We can take many many pictures at one time. This is wonderful.

We have computers and we can carry them around. Use to be that only the government had computers and they took up the whole space of a huge room.
Music is something we use to use reel to reel tapes to hear our music and record it to. They were huge, lol. Now we have tiny mp3 players and many other things.
I want to thank you for sticking with me here, if you have.

Now tell me what is it that you miss from your childhood?

I do miss more and remember so much more too. What do you remember?
Thank you so much for anyone that responds to this.
