There most likely will be My Lotters who will disagree with me.

It concerns a growing group of married couples, where the woman believes she must be 100% subservient to her husband, and obey him in everything. Naturally, the husbands in these marriages not only agree with it, they actively practise power & slavery over their wives.

Some examples:
1. One woman had her clothes bought from the shops by her husband (she had no choice at all), put on her bed, & told that was what she wearing that night..., and, she had to have her hair hanging down.

2. Another husband wrote down a list every night, of the jobs his wife must do the next day.

3. Another wife said that if she says no to sex, her husband pursues her until she gives in. She thinks that is acceptable.

4. Another wife was not allowed to comment on the route her husband was following when they were out driving. She wore a mask over her eyes.

I found the whole thing sickening to be honest.

Stone Mountain..How proudly she stands..

Every year 'round about this time I start compiling my list of 'New Year's Resolutions I Will NEVER Make'. This isn't it yet..But it does concern one of the entries into last year's list. It stated..
I will admit that Stone Mountain is an incredible work of art rather than being a monument to the exploitation, demoralization and dehumanization of people for profit.
As one might imagine, I received mixed response with some folks using suggestive gestures and colorful language to submit their opinion..of me..my ancestry..my probable lifespan..(mental shrug)..oh well..
I simply do not believe that such a monument should exist in this country. Granted, slavery was a part of our history and that history need be remembered, if for no other reason that to avoid the repitition of such atrocity..But to have it permanently immortalized as tho something to be proud of?!
You have my opinion..What's yours?
Do you think such a monument should exist? Yes! No! Why!

Is there any one here from the humanity first religion ?

Im a humanity first believer too , this world is what we see god is intangible but you can see humans so them first , i always believe in the common goal of the greater good called 'Serve others' !

Yet, it seems to have a greater impact on this country than elsewhere. Granted, I may be short-sighted given my limited point of view. If I'm wrong in the above supposition please let me know.
The question I'm asking is why is racism such a big item in this country? Why won't people let it go?
Any ideas?

If you cannot afford to pay the fine, you will be fined $25,000 or be sentenced to a YEAR in jail!

Riddle me this; if a person does not have enough money to buy health insurance, they get a fine of up to $1900, if they cannot pay THAT fine, they will be fined TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS or spend a year in jail, where do they think the poor people will come up with 25 grand? And don't we ALREADY have a prison overpopulation problem without adding a bunch of innocent people whose only crime is being broke to the system?

Oh well, at least in JAIL you get free healthcare! Will they let us bring our kids to jail too, since they can't afford it either? If not, who will take care of our kids while we are imprisoned? What happens after you serve your year and you STILL can't afford it?

In this country we have killers who get out of jail sometimes months after being sent to prison, is not being able to afford healthcare a worse crime that warrants a YEAR in prison?

Also, isn't the foster care system already completely overwhelmed? What happens to that system when hundreds of thousands of children whose parents are sent to jail for not having an extra $25 grand lying around get entered into that system?

DO you REALLY think this is a good idea?

I use it, would you believe it, as a phone. I have a landline in the apartment I recently rented, but I disconnected that, since it felt that all mexican political parties were to get my vote with prerecorded messages (I can't even vote down here), and Pizza Hut kept calling me with their latest offer.
I receive very few calls (and make even fewer), and I like it just fine. Those calls I receive are usually important, which means I don't have to carry the phone around with me everywhere I go, since people on the whole call me again if it is something important.
I just don't like the idea of being 'available' at every moment of my waking life. I cherish my privacy, and the few friends I have usually find a way to get a hold on me. I don´t like 'snap' visits, kind of a spur of the moment visits, and I let people know.
Some of my students commented on the stress it causes them when, already at home, presumably to rest and get a life, they get a call or text message from work. I would go nuts, how dare they? Those students are always on stand-by, and I just couldn't cope with it.
So how to you deal with this dichotomy of today's communication technologies, your life and your privacy? Is it an issue for you?

A 3/5 comprimise of our very own.

In the days of the drafting of the Constitution, the "slave" states wanted Slaves to be counted as a person.

Today pro lifers want fetuses to be counted as a human being.

In the days of the drafting of the Constitution, the "Free" states didn't want slaves to be counted as people at all.

Today, the pro choicers don't want fetuses to be counted as human beings at all.

The "comprimise" was that slaves would count as "3/5" of a person.

Today the "comprimise" is that fetuses aren't considered human beings until 22-25 weeks of gestation... Hmmm... 24 weeks of a 40 week gestation period... 24/40.... 3/5. Wow!

So you see, we literally have a 3/5 comprimise here.

being taken for granted

do you feel that your being taken for granted, that everything you goes unnoticed? like you just exist and people expect you to be there to do the same old thing for them every single day? I DO, and i am tired of it, the things i do for people never get acknowledged, i feel like i am just here for the sake of it, especially when my sons come over, don't get me wrong, i love them all to bits but it's the same old thing every time they visits, they will sit there doing nothing, watching TV, they will eat till they are ready to pop, they will leave the place upside down, i don't even get a thanks sometimes, and i am left feeling pretty awful afterwards. anyone else tired of being taken for granted by close friends and family? i am tired of it right now, it just feels like the things i do are a duty and it goes unnoticed to all the people around me, today was the icing on the cake, 2 of my sons came over and brought some laundry with them, my youngest is on his school holidays and has come back here for a while till the holidays are finished, he's staying with my eldest son because i only have 1 bedroom, there's simply no room for him to sleep they dropped the laundry bag on the floor, didn't ask me if THEY could use the washer, they just left it in the hall for ME to wash, didn't they learn anything when they lived here, i always made sure that they did the chores i gave them, ok his machine is broken but he could have asked first, but NO he just assumed that i would do this for the 2 of them....i did the washing for them while they sat in the living room watching TV, then i did dinner, not even a "do you want any help mum" since my kids have left home things here have been different, i have not had to do this for them for a while, but a please wouldn't go amiss now and then, they still seem to think that i am still their maid, they are grown men for goodness sake...grrrr. i am not just here to pick up after people, i do exist and i am not a bloody house maid, talk about feeling unappreciated...it sucks....anyone else feel the same?

A dangerous trend--teen girls proud of bruises from their boyfriends

I just heard on the radio that teen girls are proudly showing off their bruises and injuries from their boyfriends beating them. Apparently they think that if their boyfriends beat them, they care enough to be jealous and that means they love them. Some girls are even provoking these attacks just so they'll have something to show their friends. They don't even try to cover them up as people did years ago because they were ashamed of them. No, these girls will wear sleeveless shirts and skirts so that everyone can see how much their boyfriends "love" them.

It's hard for me to believe that anyone would see this as a status symbol or an expression of love. Have you heard about this? I know teens do nutty things but this is downright dangerous and sick. Watch out for this trend in your own teens, and I hope it's a very isolated thing and doesn't spread.
