My husband has complained about this for years and was just shrugged off by his heart doctor. I think they have been keeping his cholesterol levels much to low. Finally here is a study to help support my view and maybe I can get him to take less stains. It's hard to get doctors to listen unless you have a study to back up your claims. The study was on this morning's Good Morning America.

Statins! Do you take them?

Do you take statins? I used to take Zocor, but I banned it from my pillbox last month. It was expensive and I became worried about some of the potential side effects. Maybe I should be worried about not taking it. But I'd rather take what is natural. Red rice yeast is what I take now, but I'm not sure how effective it is. What do you all take? Do you count on oat bran and garlic to do it for you?

I'd like to know what else might work.

What fears do you have about taking statins?

Statins are used to treat cholesterol that's out of whack, and statins have some specific health concerns or risks, along with the benefits of lowering cholesterol.

I've tried different herbs to tackle the cholesterol issues, but not as successfully as wanted. I've tried garlic, flaxseed, red rice yeast, a varitey of herbs, oat bran, cholestoff, exercise, and even eating vegan or low-cholesterol vegetarian for a while. But my readings aren't as low as the recommended readings. My doctor still believes in having me using a statin not a statin alternative.

I think doctors overprescribe. What's your view on the subject?

Dads Heart Problems

I took my dad for his quarterly heart check up Wed afternoon. Everything appears to be goping well for him. Heart rate was steady and normal. Blood pressure normal as well. He saw a Doctors Assistant. When did that title come around. I meant to ask her a ton of questions about that title but forgot. Anyhow it seems they or at least she was, a true friend of the pharmacuetical compnay representatives. All she wanted to do was give my father 4 more prescriptions added to the 8 he already has now. She suggested cholesterol pills even though the heart surgeon didn't suggest it nor did his family Dr. They said his level of both were normal and needed no attention. Then she also wanted to add a coupel more beta blockers which he is taking already. I am sorry to tell her but I refused every one stating if he's doing so well why she wants him on more pills. She said as a precautionary step. Well it's been 6 months since he has had anything wrong & everything is going uphill as far as his health. Why change or add things now that seem senseless especially since 3 other Dr.s never suggested this. Anyhow I'm done rambling on. Dad is doing GREAT as of late other than being lazy & not getting any exercise. Thanks.

I am 35 and in resonable good health (not obese, actually just lost alot of weight*5'7" & 160lbs*), do not drink alchol, and have actually cut back on the sweets to loose weight. So why now?!?

I go to the store and everything that I love is either loaded with fat, carbs, or sugar so I cannot have anything that I love to eat nor drink. Did you know a can of Enchiladas has just as much sugar and carbs as a tub of Chocolate Ice Cream?

Not to mention all of the other health risks that are now heaped on mee, so much more to worry about with being diabetic. I do not want to go through life worrying about loosing a limb , sight, etc.. God this is driving mee nuts!!

How did you deal with it? How are you dealing with it? GOD THIS SUCKS!!! I feel like my best friend died!! Any input would be appriciated!!

Thank you for your time and have a great day!!
