I wasn't impressed with the jarred food I was finding. He loves my peas, avocado, and bananas. I find that making my babies food is cheaper than store bought and I know its' fresh. It's so easy and it kind of makes me feel like super mom:) What are some of your babies favorite foods? What did they hate?

Very simple question : Do you like doughnuts ?

I like doughnuts very much. Doughnuts became my daily breakfast during my college days. I was a lazy late riser ( in fact, I am still , but please don't tell any body , ha ha !), and every morning had to rush to get to the class. So, on my way, I would drop in at the coffee shop, grab some doughts and ran. Ha ha ! Since then, I liked doughnuts, and still like to have once in a while at breakfast time, or any other time. Chocolate doughnuts ! Hm , Yummy ! How about you ? Do you like doughnuts ? Or, do you like some thing else special ?

Can you taste if the pizza is frozen or fresh?

I didn't particularly like pizza until recently. I have had both freshly baked pizza and frozen pizza before, I think it is easy to tell the difference, the frozen ones's bottom is usually harder like flat bread. Of crouse they don't taste as good as freshly made pizza but when you are craving for it, it helps some.

So can you taste the difference between them?

Produce: buy or grow

Would you rather grow your own produce, buy at a farmers market or buy at a grocery store? With all the chemicals and processes I would feel safe to grow my own, plus it will be much cheaper......
though I live in town and I can't grow my own for no yard space :((
i remember when i was little my grandma had a big farm and we would grow all kinds of fruits and vegetables and i would work with her during the summer on her own vegetable stand. back then i was upset because i wouldn't have a summer, now i like what she did and respect her for it.
even though i would pick strawberries, i think i ate just as many as i picked....haha it was fun, enjoyable and you got to meet many people. i always remember canning also....my grandma still does that.

Do you ever buy prepackaged spice mixes?

I generally will pick them up for fajitas, burritos, and tacos. I was making fajitas tonight and found a homemade fajita spice mix online. Here's the link:

http://www.recipezaar.com/Basic-TacoFajita-Seasoning-81428

It was wonderful! Do you mix your own spices? Do you buy packets of taco, fajita or burrito spice mixes? I wonder if the sodium is much higher in the prepared packages. I'm assuming that it's cheaper to make your own too. What do you think? Got your own recipes to share?

Would you pay more money for a better tasting pizza or buy cheap?

Today we ordered pizza from Pizza Hut
and I paid two dollars more for the Super
Supreme.

It tastes so much better with all
the toppings and not just a few.

I think it was worth the extra money.

I could have gone cheap and bought
a cheaper pizza for $6.99 but then it
wouldn't have tasted so good.
You get what you pay for, quality wise.

When you are ordering pizza, do you
go for the extras, even though they
cost more?

Or, do you go cheap on pizza, just to
save a couple dollars?

What did you get?

I hope everyone that is a mother in some way has enjoyed their day and will continue to enjoy their day. Did you get anything special? Do your children make you gifts or are they store bought? What did you get your mother?

My oldest child made a class project this year for Mother's Day. They all had to find a recipe (or many) of their favorite food or their Mother's favorite food and then the teacher put them all together and bound them all together and each child had an essay about their mother as the "introduction" page. It was really cool. My other school aged child didn't bring his home he "forgot" [em]lol[/em] and the youngest usually makes something with dad and I don't know what it is since they are all still sleeping. My husband gave me a new wedding set, it's very pretty.

I gave my mother a new outfit. She never buys things like that unless she needs them. I don't really do cards often because they have gotten so expensive and it's just more clutter so when I go today to see her I will stop and buy some flowers for her.

What is your favorite pie? Homemade or Store Bought?

I have a friend who makes pies and sells them. He is known in our area as the "Pie Guy". Anyway, he brought me over a sampler blueberry pie today and it was so good so I got to wondering what kind of pies my fellow mylotters enjoyed. Although I really enjoyed the blueberry, my absolute favorite is apple crisp. Normally I'm not much of a dessert person but I can never resist a homemade pie. How about you, what's your favorite......Do you settle for store bought or do you make homemade? Please share and have a great day!

Can you bake a cake without an oven?

I seriously want to learn the art of baking a cake without an oven. Can you help me out? Some of my friends and relatives have tried all sorts of acrobatics in the kitchen, trying to bake a cake in grease-lined vessels, cookers, and so on and so forth. They all got cakes. Maybe the cakes were flat and hard, but they were still cakes and tasted alright.

So have you tried this ultimate culinary adventure of trying to bake a cake without an oven? Did it rise or did it stay flat? Have you put it in a grease-lined vessel and then put it in a cooker with some sand underneath and god knows what?

Please share your cake adventures. I am all ears.

Cheers and happy mylotting

Well, I broke down and did it

I ordered a store bought birthday cake for my son's 9th Birthday this Saturday. I always make their cakes, but I saw this Wall-E cake at the grocery store that I know he would just love. He does not know about it yet. It is going to be a surprise too. My daughters birthday is in 2 weeks too. I hope I am not stuck ordering a cake for her now too. What would your kids want on their cake? Any special characters?
