I am wondering just where she should look for a job, now that she has her permit. She is only 14 so her choices are very limited.

Wondering if any of you have an suggestions as to what she could do at this age, besides babysitting, I really do not want her babysitting.

Once they were driving, each had part-time jobs in town, usually starting in fast-food and then moving on to something with more responsibility.

What have you, when you were a teen, or what your teens done to make extra money for the things that they wish to do/buy?

In our family, we consider school to be their first job, and their main responsibility. If they want to get a job that pays them, they have to have good grades before they start, and show a high level of responsibility. Once they get a job, those good grades have to continue, or the job has to go. In the summer, they can work as many hours as they can get once they are sixteen.

Do you remember your first job?

Hi friends and fellow mylotters. I was wondering what your very first job was when you turned a teenager.
Do you remember what you got paid?
Did you like the job?
How long did you keep it?

I had decided I wanted to be a nurse when I grew up.
So at age 15 I heard of a Nursing Home that would allow 15 year olds be a nurses aide. (this was 1967-68)
I still remember the day I walked up those steps of the Carmelite Home in St Charles Missouri.
It was run by the Catholic Nuns of the Carmelites.
I went in to the office and asked for an application.
After I filled it out, Sister Mary Ursula took me upstair to the 2nd floor to meet Sister Mary Concepta.
We went to the nurses station but she was not there so Sister Ursula started looking in room to room. Back then there were no intercoms etc to find each other.
We found her in a room with a lady that was very ill.
I remember starting to walk in the room and I smelled the stentch and could not remain in the room.
Neither nun knew that I left the room.
I ran downstairs and out the front door.
I sat on the steps for a minute thinking I could not do this.
As I sat there I don't know if God come down to talk to me in my mind or what but all of a sudden I was saying to myself...
"What is wrong with you? You said you wanted to be a nurse. The lady is sick, she is not trying to do anything to make you feel sick, SHE IS SICK."
With that, I kind of shook myself off inside and stood up and climbed those stairs again and went back into the room.
Fortunately the nuns were so busy taking care of this lady they did not notice I had left.
From that moment on, that home became my second home and the love, the care, the nurturing I got within those walls I could never replace. I remained there until the day I left for the Army 3 years later.
I saw so much sadness there. But instead of dwelling on the sadness, I would gather my little 2nd floor ladies and men and bring them to the sitting room and turn on music and tv shows I knew they would like
Those that could stand and walk I would have up and dancing. We did not have physical therapy or occupational therapy as much back then. I did not know that was what I was giving them then.
What I do know is that I got them to laugh, to have fun, and learn that even though they were getting older they were still somebody.
I truly think those 3 years began the molding of the person I was to become.
I was not Catholic, but I learned through those nuns that if you love, it does not matter what religion you are. There is always something you can share and learn from others.
Now what was your first job?

Year Books,Class Rings,Prom Dress,Prom Tickets,Prom,.School Pictures

Am I the only one overwhelmed by all of this?
