Over the years I have recorded so many good movies. I dont' TIVO so I still record on VHS.

But as I find my favorites on DVD at a cheap price, I will buy it and then hand down the VHS to someone else..or just record over it!

I always watch for them on sale at $5 or less... never more than $10 and only then if it is one I have been waiting for or haven't seen cheaper. Today I got Jurassic Park and Twister for $4.50 at Target. I have been adding to my collection of my favorite movies this way and am doing very well. I know many will buy ASAP and pay $25 or more for the movie... but I won't do it. I know the price willl drop. I wanted 27 Dresses SO BAD. Got a free rented acoupon and had never even heard of it (don't do the theater!) and just saw it and thought it looked good so I rented it for free. I Loved that movie! But wasn't going to pay $20... it dropped to $15, then $13, and I almost bought it but then went to Blockbuster and it was on sale (pre-viewed but perfect condition!) for $7.50! I grabbed it!

So how do you accomodate adding to your collection of DVD's and movies on an economical option?

Anyone still watch movies on VCRs?

I know it seems like DVDs have taken over when it comes to movies, but I wonder if any of you still have a VCR and watch VHS tapes on it? If you rent movies, is it hard to find them on VHS? I don't think Blockbuster has them at all anymore. If you don't use a VCR to watch movies, when did you stop using one, if you did use one in the first place.

Can you recycle VHS tapes somewhere?

i have a lot of VHS tapes im getting rid of since they are all old and dont work well.. well considering they are plastic it made me wonder if there is any way of recycling them? i mean are there places that take them to recycle them? seems horrible to throw away literally HUNDREDS of VHS tapes to take up room on a landfill some where when they are mostly plastic

Do you own a lot of VHS tapes?

I have a lot of VHS tapes that Iv purchased over the years and there some great hard to find films let me name a few.

Do you own both, one or none?

I had over 300 movies on VHS tape, some I bought, some I recorded off TV. Then DVD's came out so now I have about 50 movies so far on DVD. I am not going to go out and re-buy those 300 movies so I'm keeping both my VCR and DVD player for a very long time!

This movie will be released on Jan 22nd 2008 I believe this will be the funniest movie of the year.
This flick was shot in New Jersey this summer - its about two guys who work in a video store and accidentally erase the tapes. Consequently, they have to re shoot the movies to save their jobs! http://www.alliancefilms.com/bekindrewind/

Movies From The 80's

Here is a question I want to know, which movie from the 80's do you like? Do you have any favorites in this category? Do you feel a bit of nostalgia while watching these movies? I know I do because these are the movies I grew up on.

how to convert old VHS home movies to DVD?

I have some precious home movies I took in the 90's. Does anyone know how I can convert them? One of my tapes is already wearing thin.

Remeber the VCR?

Do you still use a VCR to record TV shows or do you TIVO? I'm probably one of the few people who still use their old VCR from the early 90's to tape a show now and then. Somehow I still find it comforting to be a slave to the network programmers' schedules. How about you? How has TIVO and the time shifting paradigm of TV watching changed your life?
