Do you like big or small stores? I love Wegman's. It is a huge store with many items. It is a little expensive but you can get some good buys there as well. It is by far the coolest grocery store I have ever been in.

support whole foods and employer with 50,000 insured employees

It seems freedom of thought/opinion/speech is dying (or dead?) in the US -- the CEO of Whole Foods doesn't agree with the President's health care reform and advocates finding open market alternatives. So Whole Foods is being BOYCOTTED!! If you can afford it, go buy something at Whole Foods now "SUPPORT WHAT IS STILL GOOD AND WHOLESOME IN OUR COUNTRY!

I Plan On Doing Some Business With Whole Foods Now

With the Pro-Obamacare boycotting, I think it is just to supply Whole Foods with my business. I have only shopped at the Whole Food in my area twice since it has been open, mainly because of it's meat selection. The CEO of Whole Foods, John Mackey wrote an op-ed that suggests alternatives to a single payer health care? For that a boycott. Even though this company is pretty much the icon of liberal corporations, this corporation has step out of line, which I do like doing business with a company that does not always do what it is told. Just an idea of some of Whole Foods liberal policies,
The company has strict environmental and humane animal treatment standards about how its food is grown and raised.
Their employee's get to vote on what type of health insurance they want, and everyone receives health insurance.
The companies lowest wage earners make $13.15 per hour, much higher than Walmart a supporter of Obamacare.
Sorry left but you can not tell us all what we can do. I know you are use to playing by these rules, agree with us, or we’ll crush you. Go right ahead and try it!

Where do you shop for your healthy foods?

Where do you shop for all of your healthy foods?

Maybe it's an organic grocery store, whole foods, or maybe even just the regular ol grocery store.

I'm curious because recently my husband and I move to a new state. In this new town we have a local, organic grocery store. I've been tempted by it since we moved here! Well finally today I went in to check it out. I couldn't believe how HIGH the prices were. My husband and I are both professionals and sadly I don't think we could ever afford to grocery shop there.

The thing that got me was that I saw several items that the regular grocery store sell for less than half the price!! It's unfortunate because I'd love to shop there the prices just aren't at all reasonable.

Unfortunately that was our only option for healthy/organic type grocery stores.

I LOVE Trader Joes. Their products are great and so reasonably priced. Unfortunately we have one NO WHERE near us! :-(

What is your dinner doing to the climate?

LOCAL or imported? Conventional or organic? Can you make choices that will keep your diet healthy and reduce your carbon footprint? Is it possible to eat green? Does it even matter?

It may surprise you to learn that our diets account for up to twice as many greenhouse emissions as driving. One recent study suggested that the average US household's annual carbon food-print is 8.1 tonnes of "equivalent CO2 emissions" or CO2eq (a measure that incorporates any other greenhouse gases produced alongside the CO2). That's almost twice the 4.4 tonnes of CO2eq emitted by driving a 25-mile-per-US gallon (9 litres per 100 kilometres) vehicle 19,000 km - a typical year's mileage in the US.

Have You ever been told you shouldn't?

Well, today at my local Whole Foods I was sampling some guacamole. I accidentally dropped a little onto the floor as I bit into a tortilla chip. I looked at the floor, looked up, and noticed a glare from a female worker who was arranging produce about 20feet away from me. Well, I felt bad for making a mess, but I didn't appreciate the look. It felt like she didn't want me to even be there. I tried to ignore her, and tried one more sample of guacamole. It was very tasty. Then, I tried some of the salsa nearby. It was a bit too spicy and kicked up my acid reflux. So, I went back to the guacamole to counteract the salsa. Just then, I heard a voice calling, "Ma-am..MA-AM!..MAAM." Well, I didn't think I was doing anything wrong, so I didn't think she was talking to me...until(insert drum roll, please)she got up close to the sample as if to guard it and stated in a rude tone and facial expression, "Ma-am, you can't eat any more of the guacamole, you have sampled too much, you NEED to LEAVE some for the OTHER customers." O No She DIDN'T! I asked to speak to her manager. She said,"I'm the manager." Funny, I didn't see a name tag. I asked her name, she refused to give it to me, and said,"You can ask customer service." I asked again and she repeated herself. I asked how I would describe her, other than the fact that she had 3 thick gold chains around her neck and some rather comically drawn on eyebrows? Her friend, another female co-worker also refused to give me her name and nodded in agreement when she told me to go to customer service. Interestingly, I found out she is NOT a manager. I was furious. Normally, I get great customer service, and shopping at Whole Foods is usually a high point to my week because the people who work there seem genuinely friendly, a rarity these days. I was shocked at this encounter. I don't remember seeing this employee before and she must be new. I know the starting wage at Whole Foods is $10 for most positions. In this economy, it is a blessing to have a job. To be told I am eating too much, when there is clearly no sign saying their is a sampling limit(and I mentioned this)is absurd and downright rude. She made it seem like I was making a meal out of the guacamole. I do a lot of baking and know measurements pretty well. I sampled roughly 6 tablespoons of guacamole and 7 chips. I also happen to weigh 190lbs. and don't take too well to anyone telling me I am "eating too much.":)
Has anything like this ever happened to you? Please sound off.

This is very helpful in making healthy, natural and nutritious drinks. I bought a juicer for my mother last Mother's day which also is the date of her birthday. She is happy with the gift but probably finds it a rather complicated device because she has not used it since it was bought. Anyway i will probably use it one of these days

My family could go through 4lbs of strawberries in 1 day, and thats if only the kids eat them. But I can't buy them everyday bcz for that amount it costs a minimum of $8. It seems to me that processed foods should cost more bcz they are PROCESSED, they have to alter them, do something to them etc...whole foods are just taken out of the ground, picked off a tree etc...so why are they so much more expensive?

Is whole foods . . .

really worth it? They are so expensive I have to wonder if it wouldn't just be more cost effective to enjoy what you eat and go from there. Maybe I worry about money too much but it does seem that Whole Foods doesn't cut you any deals.
